Recent inspections across the country revealed serious violations in food safety, leading to over 1,000 fines totaling more than five million lei. Inspectors found moldy meat products, expired foods, and unsanitary conditions in various establishments. The checks, conducted from October 5 to 9, involved over 1,600 businesses, including food and non-food sectors. Significant issues included the use of degraded cooking oil and improper storage of perishable items. Authorities issued 1,049 fines and 640 warnings, halting the sale of non-compliant products worth over 146,000 lei. Some businesses were temporarily suspended until issues were resolved.
