De ce nu ne putem aminti aproape nimic din primii ani de viață? Ce este memoria autobiografică? • Newsweek România
Many adults struggle to recall memories from their early childhood due to a phenomenon known as childhood amnesia. While infants can learn and recognize faces, voices, and objects, their ability to form autobiographical memories is limited. This is largely due to the ongoing development of the brain, particularly the hippocampus, which is crucial for memory formation. Additionally, the development of language plays a significant role in organizing experiences into coherent narratives. As children grow, they begin to develop a sense of self, which is essential for creating personal memories. The age at which first memories occur varies among individuals and is influenced by how memories are defined. Although we may not remember specific events, the experiences from early childhood shape who we become later in life.
