Romeo Urjan, director of the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant, discussed the differences between the Cernavodă and Kozlodui plants, highlighting the impact of the Danube's low water levels on operations. While Kozlodui continues to function, it also faces limitations. Urjan noted that shutdowns are not unusual, as maintenance is regularly scheduled. The current energy crisis has made the shutdown of two reactors more significant, but the national energy system can manage these outages. If the Danube's water level rises, the reactors can be restarted quickly, typically within 24-48 hours.
