Local rains are insufficient to increase the river's flow, as the lack of water affects much of the river basin. Additionally, high temperatures and drought contribute to the reduced flow. The summer heat waves in Europe exacerbate drought conditions and increase wildfire risks. In Spain, winter and spring rains initially supported vegetation growth, but subsequent heat waves dried it out, leading to severe wildfires.
