CNAIR has clarified the timeline for the new Rovinieta and TollRo tariffs, which will be implemented in 2026. The electronic toll systems will be introduced on August 31, 2026, but the new tariffs will only take effect on October 1, 2026. This distinction aims to reduce confusion caused by previous legislative changes. The TollRo system targets freight vehicles over 3.5 tons, charging based on distance traveled rather than a fixed period. Additionally, by January 15, 2027, the Romanian system will become interoperable with EU electronic toll systems.
