A new regulation in Romania states that drivers who do not pay traffic fines may have their driving licenses suspended. The suspension duration correlates with the unpaid amount, calculated as one day for every 50 lei owed. This applies to all drivers with Romanian licenses, including those operating agricultural vehicles and trams. Drivers will receive a payment notice within 30 days of the debt registration, detailing the owed amount and the 90-day payment deadline. If the fine remains unpaid after this period, the suspension will begin three working days later, and drivers can resume driving once the debt is settled.
