David Popovici won the 100m freestyle final at the European Swimming Championships in Paris, securing his third consecutive continental title in this event. He finished the race in 46.56 seconds, ahead of Russia's Egor Kornev and Hungary's Kristof Milak. Popovici improved his semifinal time and set a new championship record. His performance, however, was slightly above his European record of 46.51 seconds. This victory brings him closer to Alexander Popov's record of four consecutive European titles. Popovici will continue competing in the 200m freestyle events.
