David Popovici won his third consecutive gold medal in the 100m freestyle at the European Championships in Paris, setting a new competition record of 46.56 seconds. He previously recorded 47.13 seconds in the heats and 46.72 seconds in the semifinals. His main competitor, Egor Kornev, finished second with 46.74 seconds, while Kristof Milak from Hungary took third place. Popovici is now the second swimmer in history to win three consecutive European titles in this event, following Aleksandr Popov. He aims to continue his success in the 200m freestyle event.
