In 2025, 78.2% of Romania's population was connected to the public water supply, with significant regional disparities. Bucharest-Ilfov had the highest connection rate at 98.3%, while the North-East region lagged at only 53.3%. Overall, the total volume of water distributed in Romania decreased by 14.5%, despite an increase in water supplied to the population.
