Daniel David, former Minister of Education, discussed Romania's poor PISA 2025 results, emphasizing the need for a PISA-aligned educational approach. He argued that without integrating PISA principles into teaching, expectations for improved outcomes are unrealistic. Interim Minister Mihai Dimian highlighted the necessity for better school conditions and support for teachers, noting that Romanian students spend significantly fewer hours in school compared to the OECD average. The curriculum for gymnasium graduates has included PISA competencies since 2017, aiming to prepare students for real-life problem-solving. Over 55,000 teachers have been trained to teach these competencies, shifting focus from mere knowledge accumulation to practical application.
