The Italian Association in Romania has filed a lawsuit to annul the decree appointing Siegfried Mureșan as a candidate for Prime Minister. The case was registered at the Bucharest Court of Appeal, with the first hearing set for September 28, 2026. The association, led by Ioana Grosaru, argues against Decree 770/2026, which designates Mureșan to seek parliamentary confidence for the new government. Former judge Cristi Dănileț commented that presidential decrees cannot be contested as acts of power. The Italian Association is the only officially recognized entity representing the Italian minority in Romania, founded in 1993 and receiving public funding.
