The quake struck at 06:05:18 local time, approximately 51 kilometers south of Buzău. Just 20 minutes earlier, a smaller quake of 2.5 magnitude was recorded at a depth of 108.1 kilometers. This marks the second seismic event in a short period in the area, with the strongest quake in Romania this year being 4.5 magnitude on February 26.
