The Bucharest Court of Appeal overturned the 3 years and 8 months prison sentence of retired General Florin Mihalache, previously convicted for influence peddling, money laundering, and forgery. The court found insufficient evidence to support the charges, leading to his acquittal. Mihalache had been accused of soliciting €75,000 from a company administrator to leverage his influence in settling commercial disputes. The prosecution alleged he created a fictitious loan contract to disguise the money's origin. The ruling is final and clears Mihalache of all charges.
