German arms manufacturer Rheinmetall is significantly expanding its production capacity for explosive powder to meet rising ammunition demands in Europe. The company is building one of the largest explosive powder factories in Bavaria as part of its 'Project Firepower', aiming to double its annual production to approximately 4,200 metric tons by 2028. This expansion is driven by increased military spending in Europe following the Ukraine conflict, highlighting vulnerabilities in the defense industry, particularly in explosive powder supply. Rheinmetall is also modernizing facilities in Spain and Switzerland to strengthen its manufacturing chain.
