The National Bank of Romania released new exchange rates on October 5, 2026, showing a decrease in the euro's value against the leu, while the dollar, Swiss franc, and British pound increased. The euro is now at 5.3306 lei, down from 5.3447 lei, marking a decline of 1.41 bani. Conversely, the dollar rose to 4.7569 lei, the Swiss franc to 5.7358 lei, and the British pound to 6.2894 lei. The gold price also decreased to 635.9834 lei per gram. The BNR's reference rates differ from those offered by commercial banks, which include their own margins.
