The trading price of electricity for the cold season has exceeded 900 lei/MWh, with recent transactions on the OPCOM platform indicating a rising trend. On September 7, three small contracts were executed at 905 lei/MWh for energy delivery in early 2027, sold by Complexul Energetic Oltenia to Electrica Furnizare and Nova Power and Gas. The increase in prices is attributed to poor hydrological conditions and high natural gas prices, which are expected to continue affecting market rates. Other producers, including Romgaz and Elcen, have also sold energy at similar prices. The rising costs will eventually impact consumer bills, with Hidroelectrica announcing a 13% price increase for its supply portfolio in October. Hypothetical calculations suggest that a household in Bucharest could face a final price of around 1.78 lei/kWh, including various additional costs.
