Couples from the UK have lost tens of thousands of pounds after a fertility clinic in Portugal went bankrupt, leaving many in uncertainty during treatment. The Ovom Care clinic continued to accept payments and administer treatments shortly before ceasing operations. Many patients, having paid in cash to avoid high credit card fees, were informed they were ineligible for refunds. Reports indicate that at least 38 British patients were affected, with the clinic likely having around 200 clients, 60% of whom were British. The CEO of Ovom Care apologized for the distress caused and advised affected patients to contact the administrators for recovery claims.
