Cum vor fi scufundate cele patru barje care trebuie să ridice nivelul Dunării la Cernavodă. Explicațiile Apelor Române
Four barges loaded with stone will be sunk through controlled flooding, a process expected to take 3-4 hours for each vessel. The Romanian Waters Authority announced the completion of loading the fourth barge and detailed the sinking procedure, which will occur one by one under maximum safety conditions. The barges will be placed in predetermined locations to create a guiding dam aimed at redirecting water flow towards the Old Danube. The Danube's flow at the border has reached a historic low of 1400 mc/s, with levels expected to continue decreasing. Romania has been on alert since August 1 due to the shutdown of a reactor at the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant, with efforts underway to raise the Danube's level to ensure the second reactor's operation.
