The ROGEN project aims to enhance genomic research in Romania by integrating advanced long-read sequencing technology. This initiative, led by the Institute of Research and Development in Genomics, will establish the largest genomic sequencing capacity in the country. The PromethION 48 platform from Oxford Nanopore Technologies allows for the analysis of long DNA fragments, facilitating the study of complex genomic regions. Training programs in the UK have equipped researchers with skills for optimizing laboratory workflows and automating processes. ROGEN also aims to create a National Reference Genome for Romania and improve national capabilities in advanced genomic research and precision medicine.
