Cum se fura la Electrecord în comunism: Arhivele CNSAS
In the 1980s, Romania faced severe shortages of goods, leading to widespread theft at workplaces, including Electrecord, the country's sole record label. Employees often stole materials and products, with illegal sales becoming lucrative. Despite boasting impressive production figures, a significant portion of Electrecord's output remained unsold due to restrictions on imports. Theft became rampant, with employees devising clever methods to smuggle records out. Reports from the time reveal organized theft rings among staff, highlighting a culture of corruption and illicit trade in rare vinyl records. The decline of Electrecord was exacerbated by these issues, contributing to its eventual failure after communism.
