Researchers successfully tested solar panels at a depth of 10 meters underwater, generating energy from sunlight. The panels are designed to capture wavelengths of light that can penetrate seawater. During a two-hour test near Weizhou Island, they produced 324 milliwatt-hours, exceeding expectations. The use of perovskite, a mineral alternative to silicon, allows for better absorption of light. The study suggests these panels could operate continuously for about five and a half years underwater.
