Three Romanians have launched a project called iGov.ro to enhance transparency in public spending and combat online manipulation through data analysis and automation. The initiative stems from frustrations over the lack of transparency in Romanian public institutions and aims to support journalists and civil society. The project utilizes data collected over ten years from the Romanian Department for Romanians Abroad, revealing significant funding disparities. iGov.ro also includes a platform for monitoring social media campaigns and identifying misinformation. The team hopes to provide valuable insights to journalists and collaborate with public institutions to ensure the legitimacy of their reports.
