Mamaia, a modern resort in Romania, evolved from a pre-war vacation spot to a socialist-era destination, designed for both relaxation and tourism. Influenced by prominent architects, the resort features hotels strategically placed for optimal views of the sea and lake. After WWII, Mamaia faced destruction but was revitalized under architect Cezar Lăzărescu's vision, leading to the construction of numerous hotels and leisure facilities. The 1960s saw the establishment of a vibrant cultural scene, including the Summer Theatre, which hosted significant events and artists. Despite its initial design for local tourists, Mamaia aimed to compete with European resorts, emphasizing spaciousness and aesthetics.
