This strategy requires local co-production and aims to revitalize the defense industry. Minister Radu Miruță emphasized the importance of maintaining software control for operational confidentiality. He addressed transparency concerns regarding the SAFE program, asserting that all projects were individually approved by the Supreme Council of National Defense and Parliament. Romania is also seeking NATO support for short-term defense needs while awaiting new equipment deliveries. The country plans to produce intercepting drones to counter Russian UAVs infringing its airspace.
