Cum provoacă siropul de porumb obezitate (studiu)

A recent study indicates that high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) may contribute to weight gain by altering the digestive system, enhancing fat absorption. Researchers from the University of California, Irvine, found that HFCS affects the small intestine, leading to obesity and insulin resistance. The study involved mice and focused on the enzyme Ketohexokinase-C, crucial for fructose breakdown. Mice lacking this enzyme consumed similar calories but gained less weight, suggesting a complex relationship between fructose and body weight. Changes in the gut microbiome were observed, affecting fat absorption. While results are promising, further research is needed to confirm these effects in humans.
