France is expected to gain nearly 200 million euros in taxes this year due to rising natural gas prices, primarily from VAT. The wholesale price of gas in Europe has more than doubled since the beginning of the year, reaching around 80 euros per megawatt-hour in mid-September, the highest level of 2023. By the end of September, prices stabilized between 70 and 75 euros per MWh, translating to approximately 790 euros for 1,000 cubic meters.
