Cum au ajuns abatoarele nefolosite ale Franței să adăpostească rachete și submarine
The La Villette project, initially aimed at modernizing Paris's meat supply, turned into a costly failure, with nearly a billion francs wasted. Originally designed in the late 1940s, the project faced numerous delays and budget overruns, leading to a massive structure that was never used for its intended purpose. A Senate report in 1972 revealed that the facility remained empty, prompting the cessation of all abattoir activities in 1974. However, instead of demolition, architect Adrien Fainsilber proposed a transformation, leading to the establishment of the Cité des sciences et de l’industrie in 1986. This conversion turned a failed meat market into a thriving cultural and scientific center, showcasing the potential for revitalizing public projects.
