Moldovan President Maia Sandu announced the final stages of local public administration reform, which aims to reorganize the country's administrative-territorial structure. The plan includes 273 municipalities, three regions, and maintains the special status of Gagauzia. Sandu emphasized the need for local power to be concentrated in municipalities, enhancing their capacity to manage resources and attract investments. The reform seeks to reduce bureaucracy and improve public service accessibility. The government consulted over 115,000 citizens during the reform's development, aiming for a more efficient local administration. Sandu acknowledged the challenges ahead but stressed the importance of prioritizing citizens' needs in the implementation process.
