Cum ajung resurse europene în economia de război a Rusiei: „Moscova va găsi mereu soluții”
Russia continues to source materials for its war efforts despite European sanctions, with Irish alumina being a key example. This alumina is processed in Russian smelters and used in defense industries. An investigation revealed that a significant portion of alumina from the Aughinish plant in Ireland ends up in Russia, supplying companies involved in military equipment production. While the EU has sanctioned several Russian arms manufacturers, the export of alumina remains legal, creating a loophole. Upcoming EU sanctions may target this trade, but Ireland's political position complicates the issue, as the country holds the EU Council presidency. Experts suggest that while direct links between Irish alumina and military use are hard to prove, the dual-use nature of aluminum raises concerns about its potential applications in defense.
