Cum a pierdut Europa Balcanii într-o singură zi. Un orgoliu nemăsurat și lecția ignorată a unui principe valah
On September 25, 1396, a Western knight's arrogance led to a decisive defeat for Christian forces against the Ottomans, altering the fate of Southeast Europe. This battle marked the beginning of a 350-year Ottoman threat to Europe, particularly impacting Romania and Hungary. The Ottomans, having expanded aggressively from Anatolia, conquered much of the Balkans, culminating in the fall of Nicopolis. Despite a call for a crusade by Pope Boniface IX, the Christian forces were divided and poorly prepared. The siege of Nicopolis ended in disaster for the crusaders, with significant casualties and the establishment of Ottoman dominance in the region.
