Cum a ajuns DN1 cel mai important drum național din România? Cărei porțiuni din el i se spune Șoseaua Regilor? • Newsweek România

DN1, the most significant national road in Romania, has a rich history and connects Bucharest to Oradea. The section known as "Șoseaua Regilor" links Sinaia to Brașov and was built between 1892 and 1893. Initially used by smugglers, it evolved into a vital commercial route. The construction faced numerous challenges, requiring 12,000 workers and resulting in over 200 fatalities. King Carol I initiated the project to create a modern road, leading to the completion of 73 kilometers in just 18 months. This road facilitated access to the region, enhancing tourism and trade.
