Romania's energy production decreased by 2.6% in the first half of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025, with a 3.3% drop in final electricity consumption. Primary energy resources fell by 4.1%, while electricity resources increased by 1.1%. Domestic production totaled 7.929 million tons of oil equivalent, down 2.6%, and imports decreased by 5.5%. Electricity generation from thermal plants dropped by 5.9%, while hydroelectric production rose by 17.9%. Wind and solar energy production also saw increases. Final electricity consumption was 24.113 billion kWh, with notable declines in public lighting and household use. Electricity exports rose by 11.4%.
