CSA Steaua has decided to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport against the FRF's decision regarding participation in the Liga 2 play-off. The club aims to protect its rights following the FRF's ruling that only private teams can participate in the play-off starting from the 2028-2029 season. This decision was made to enhance competition integrity and clarify the competitive status of teams. The FRF noted that public clubs cannot affiliate with the Liga Profesionistă de Fotbal, thus lacking promotion rights. The measure received significant support from Liga 2 clubs, with only one opposing it.
