Sales of residential heat pumps in Europe surged in the first half of the year due to rising energy prices linked to the Iran conflict. Homeowners purchased 1.16 million heat pumps across 12 European countries, up from 1.05 million in the same period in 2025. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz by Iran disrupted oil and gas transport, driving oil prices to $126 per barrel. The European Commission encouraged EU governments to lower electricity taxes and promote renewable energy. The increase in energy prices and tax changes have significantly boosted heat pump sales, particularly in countries that reduced electricity taxes, with Germany leading in installations due to subsidies.
