The International Energy Agency (IEA) announced a larger-than-expected decline in global oil supply and demand for this year. The global oil supply is projected to drop by 5.7 million barrels per day by 2026, a revision from the previous estimate of 4%. Rising attacks on oil tankers in the Middle East have pushed oil prices to $110 per barrel, the highest since May. Refined petroleum products, especially diesel, have also seen significant price increases due to ongoing conflicts affecting refineries. Global oil stocks fell at a record pace in August, reaching their lowest level of 2023. The IEA emphasized the urgent need for resolution in Middle Eastern conflicts and the Russia-Ukraine war to prevent further market tensions.
