Greece will increase its diesel subsidy by €0.10 next month, totaling a €0.15 discount per liter, as announced by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. This €30 million measure aims to alleviate costs for transport operators and companies while controlling inflationary pressures. The new subsidy adds to the existing €0.05 discount funded by Greek refineries. A separate €0.10 reduction on gasoline prices remains in effect. These actions come amid rising uncertainties in global energy markets due to the Middle East conflict. Greece previously announced €300 million in subsidies for fuels and fertilizers to mitigate the economic impact of the Iran war on consumers and farmers. Farmers receive a 15% subsidy on fertilizers, and ferry companies will receive compensation to maintain ticket prices at last year's levels. Greece is already facing a cost-of-living crisis exacerbated by the pandemic and the Ukraine invasion.
