Argentina's inflation rate slowed to 1.7% in August, the lowest in 14 months, a development welcomed by President Javier Milei's government. The cumulative inflation since January reached 21.3%, with a 12-month rate of 33.5%. Economic Minister Luis Caputo celebrated this decline, attributing it to austerity measures implemented since Milei took office. However, these measures have negatively impacted consumption and economic activity, with the industrial sector down 10% from 2022 levels and significant job losses reported. The outlook for growth in Argentina is also declining, with market expectations for 2026 dropping from 2.7% to 2.1%.
