Investigators in Moldova are set to seize assets belonging to former MP Cristian Rizea, including land and buildings in Chisinau. The properties are registered under his wife's name, as the state seeks to recover a debt of 400,000 euros. This includes a tax debt of approximately 100,000 euros and a significant claim of 300,000 euros from a criminal case in Romania where Rizea was convicted for influence peddling. Rizea, who fled Romania to avoid a prison sentence, was expelled from Moldova in 2023. He was accused of soliciting bribes disguised as loans to facilitate personal interests for a businessman.
