Romania faces a significant energy pricing issue, selling solar energy cheaply to Bulgaria during the day and buying it back at much higher prices at night. This discrepancy is attributed to Romania's lack of energy storage capacity compared to Bulgaria, which has invested in battery technology. Former Energy Minister Sebastian Burduja highlighted that Romania sold energy worth 33 million euros to Bulgaria in April but only earned 5 million euros in return. Secretary of State Cristian Bușoi confirmed the situation and mentioned that improvements in energy storage are underway, but it will take time to implement. The installation of batteries is expected to take between six months to a year, depending on the size and complexity of the projects.
