Cristian Bușoi, avertisment privind facturile la energie: "Prețurile din orele de vârf pot fi chiar duble"
Cristian Bușoi, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Energy, warns of rising electricity prices this autumn due to the European gas market situation and the prolonged shutdown of two reactors at Cernavodă. He noted that exact estimates for bill increases are not yet available, as the duration of the reactors' closure is uncertain. The shutdown removes about 900 MW from the system, leading to higher market prices, especially during peak hours. Romania has seen record electricity imports, but there is currently no risk of electricity shortages. Bușoi mentioned ongoing investments in storage batteries and new production capacities, with a focus on supporting vulnerable consumers if prices rise significantly. He cautioned that increased costs for industrial consumers could lead to inflation and reduced purchasing power.
