Romania has officially notified the European Commission of an energy crisis and requested a regional reassessment. Cristian Bușoi emphasized the need for effective support and highlighted the problematic closure of coal production capacities. He participated in a European Commission meeting to discuss Romania's situation, including the imminent shutdown of Cernavodă Unit 2. Bușoi activated the 'early warning' mechanism and requested an updated regional evaluation from the Commission and ENTSO-E. He also called for a bilateral technical discussion to explore available EU mechanisms for potential interventions in the electricity market.
