This consensus document highlights the urgent need to respond to climate change impacts, which threaten infrastructure, economies, and food security. The declaration follows years of legal efforts by the UN International Law Commission and the International Court of Justice, with contributions from Bogdan Aurescu, who played a key role in the discussions. The global average sea level is currently rising at an accelerated rate, posing significant risks to over two-thirds of UN member states.
