A study by the University of Deusto found that newborns' brains respond more to the cries of other babies than to speech, challenging previous beliefs about early human communication. The research involved 25 newborns and 27 Italian adults, revealing that while adults reacted more to spoken phrases, newborns showed stronger responses to crying. This suggests that newborns may be more attuned to the sounds they can produce themselves, despite being familiar with speech from the womb.
