The non-governmental credit balance in Romania decreased by 0.3% in July 2026, reaching 472.42 billion lei, according to BNR data. Real terms show a 0.8% decline after inflation adjustment. Loans in lei, making up 66.8% of total credit, fell by 0.2%, while foreign currency loans decreased by 0.3% in lei and 0.4% in euro. Compared to July 2025, credit increased by 7.6%, but real terms indicate a 0.5% drop. Government credit rose by 2.4% to 286.15 billion lei, with a 12.6% annual increase in real terms of 4.1%. The broad money supply (M3) reached 809.29 billion lei, up 0.7% from June and 7.6% year-on-year, though real terms show a 0.5% decrease.
