The mayor of Craiova, Olguţa Vasilescu, announced a contract with Electrica for a high-efficiency cogeneration plant powered by natural gas. This facility will replace the current coal-based system and is designed to be hydrogen-ready. The project aims to improve air quality by reducing emissions and will serve around 53,000 households. It will be implemented in two phases, with hot water boilers installed next year and cogeneration engines operational in two years. The investment is part of a larger project valued at approximately 235 million euros.
