Craiova renunță la cărbune pentru încălzirea orașului. Olguța Vasilescu anunță noua centrală pe gaze: 53.000 de locuințe și instituții vor fi alimentate

The mayor of Craiova, Olguța Vasilescu, announced a contract with Electrica for a high-efficiency cogeneration plant powered by natural gas. This facility will replace the current coal-based system, aiming to improve air quality and reduce emissions. The project will be implemented in two phases, with hot water boilers installed next year and cogeneration engines operational in two years. The new plant will have a thermal capacity of approximately 208 MW and is part of a larger investment of nearly 235 million euros. The current contract with Electrocentrale Craiova will be terminated once the first phase is completed.
