Craiova anunță că va renunța la termocentrala pe cărbune. Va fi înlocuită cu o centrală de cogenerare „cu capacitate de black-start”

Craiova plans to replace its coal-fired thermal power plant with a high-efficiency cogeneration plant within two years, as announced by Mayor Lia Olguța Vasilescu. The investment, amounting to approximately 235 million euros, will be executed in two phases, with hot water boilers installed by 2027 and cogeneration engines operational by 2028. The new plant aims to improve air quality and reduce emissions, serving around 53,000 households and public institutions. It will be hydrogen-ready and capable of black-start, enhancing energy resilience. The project is part of a broader effort to transition to cleaner energy sources.
