The Federation of Romanian Transport Operators (FORT) urges Parliament to amend the law regulating fuel price adjustments to ensure real control over profit margins. FORT's president, Beniamin Lucescu, emphasized that current legislation allows fuel distributors to set prices freely, leading to excessive profits that harm the economy. The organization has also requested an investigation into price components by the Competition Council. Despite a temporary reduction in fuel excise, transporters argue that prices remain historically high, while global oil prices have decreased. The interim Prime Minister stated that the government cannot control fuel price increases due to global market conditions.
