Cristian Theodor Dragomir, CEO of Waldevar Energy, was arrested in a corruption case involving a Slovak businessman who allegedly solicited a €450,000 bribe for a battery storage project in Romania. The court approved a 30-day preventive arrest for both suspects. The investigation by the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) revealed that the Slovak businessman pressured a company administrator for the bribe, disguised as a referral fee. This case highlights the rarity of private sector corruption investigations in Romania, despite the legal framework allowing for such actions. The DNA has previously handled few cases of private sector corruption, indicating a significant gap in enforcement.
