The Vertical Corridor is expanding to the Western Balkans with Serbia and North Macedonia officially joining through a new Memorandum of Understanding signed in Thessaloniki. This agreement, part of the Southeast Europe Energy Forum, includes gas transport operators from both countries, enhancing regional energy security. Key officials from Greece, Bulgaria, Cyprus, and Romania attended the signing, emphasizing the importance of energy security in national policies. The initiative aims to diversify gas supply routes and reduce dependence on Russian gas, while improving interconnectivity and resilience in the energy infrastructure. The project is seen as a strategic step for Romania and the region, promoting a more integrated energy market.
